Good Food Everyday!

It is everybody's dream to have a better-looking body measurement, but the tongue and the eyes crave for the yummy foods around - oftentimes, even more than one can eat as the eyes are bigger than the stomach. But then, is it only the beautiful measurement? Or is it because of a healthy body? Maybe both.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), "Health is the state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being..." For its part, Nestle serves by offering good food for a good life.

Cora Sager noted that there is no good food and bad food, but only good and bad diets. "Moderation, variety, and balance are the keys to wellness," she added. Moderation is eating the right serving portion; variety is painting the plate with fruits and vegetables; and balance is more water, and less - sugar salt and fat.

In choosing the right foods for well-being, fad and extravagance are out, simple enjoyment is in. There is no need to skip or fast meals, but moderation. Eating the right combinations like a balanced diet of bread and cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables, and moderate protein - would give an immediate source of energy, protection, and strength the body needs. Of course, this must come with exercise/ physical activity, and yes, we've established wellness!

Here's a Vegetable Recipe from Nestle: Papaya, Carrots, and Fried Fish Salad
(by Chef Tess)

Ingredients:

3 cups grated green (unripe) papaya
1 1/2 cups grated carrots
1/4 cups chopped wansuy
1/4 cup dried shrimp, soaked in water, then drained
3 pieces chile
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup "calamansi" juice
1/4 vinegar
flavoring
2 tbsp fish sauce
Shredded left over fried fish
Crispy tofu or fried wonton wrappers (optional)

Procedure:

1. Toss papaya, carrots, and wansuy in a bowl. Set aside in the refrigerator to chill.
2. Using a mortar and a pestle, crush small shrimps and chile together. Transfer in a bowl. Add sugar and mix very well.
3. Whisk in oil, "calamansi" juice, and vinegar into the mixture.
4. Season with MAGGI MAGIC SARAP and fish sauce to taste.
5. Toss the prepared vegetables in the mixed dressing. Serve on plate and top with fried left over fish, fried tofu, or crispy wonton.

Remember:

Vegetables with deep colors are the best to eat. Get more of the vegetables in season because they are abundant, fresh and very affordable. Eating a lot of vegetables and fruits makes digestion easy. Food must be properly stored, but disposed as to expiry dates.
